Set goals, have a plan, establish a deadline, and live the life of your dreams! Why settle for someone else’s gold when you can create an empire all your own? Ladies, it is time that you use what you have (in your head) to get you to the life you desire! Here’s how:

We all have friends or family members or co-workers—or maybe it’s you—who are fly on a daily. It comes natural to them, whether going to work, a cook-out, wedding, shopping, bowling…they know exactly what to wear, how to wear it, and how to accessorize. And not necessarily to get attention. It’s just them. It’s how they are, from head to toe, with confidence. And we can just imagine them walking down a NY runway or Hollywood Red Carpet.
How can you make an impact if you can’t even get in the door? Many of us have talent, education, and ambition, but unfortunately it seems we can’t even land our dream job! There are times when you have to do the unconventional to get uncommon results! Check out some of our ideas to get your foot in the door:
The 90s girl group TLC is probably best known for its song “Waterfalls.” In the song Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes delivered thought-provoking lyrics that seemed to never leave my mind (probably because it took me so long to memorize them). One of the lines are: “Dreams are hopeless aspirations in hopes of coming true,” which made me wonder what it meant to dream and how to move your dream from a hope and a wish to reality.
Maybe not everyone will become an entrepreneur, but most people are producers. To be a producer you must bring forth something. And whether you get paid for it or not, most people bring forth something on a daily basis. They can bring forth something on their job (i.e. organize calendars, write scripts, or prepare great food). And if you’re an avid social media user, you’re constantly producing and curating content.
Being a producer means that you offer something to the world, and if you mix your production with your purpose, you could be a true influencer.
We all know the difference between the people who want to exchange business cards and the people who are interested in building relationships. Who doesn’t want to run away when those card exchangers approach with a fake smile? At the end of the day, the people who you are more likely to work with in the future are those who take the time to build relationships. And as for the rest of the cards…they seem to find their way into the trash.
When it comes to networking, how do you approach people genuinely, and establish meaningful relationships so that they are more likely to work with you?
We all make plans for ourselves. There are large plans like plans to become a successful engineer. And then there are smaller plans like convincing your boss to ‘OK’ your new idea. We know that your brand represents you, but what represents your brand? Social media has us all (unfortunately ) living in a virtual reality. And in order to attract more people to your brand and your brand’s story, it’s important to have something that represents your brand. While at SxSW we learned that the best brands tell the best stories. In order to tell their story, they use these 3 things:

Sometimes you have to observe your life as if you’re in the midst of a shift, and act accordingly so that you can get from one place to another. Whether you’ll use it for a hobby or a profession, it’s time that we learn to code. Knowing how to code is what will keep you ‘relevant’ in this day and age. I recently stumbled upon a website called Codecademy.com which teaches you basic code. Why limit yourself to being a tech consumer when you could be a tech builder? As a tech builder, you won’t have to rely on other people to build your website. And if you do choose to hire someone, you’ll have knowledge of what they’re referring to. Some positions require that you have some working knowledge of HTML, even if that’s not your direct job responsibility.
