One of the most amazing features of social media is the ability to create small communities. On Twitter you use a hashtag to categorize things into groups. Imagine if that idea came to life? Like, what if we created groups in real life that came together for the common good. Groups focused on giving, helping someone re-build their kitchen, or feeding kids before and after school.

The CO-OP series has been getting some great feedback. We initially worked on ‘Making Money Together‘ then we talked about ‘Cooperative Entrepreneurship‘ and now we want to touch on “Building Health Together”. This is an interesting topic that focuses on building our health in all areas, and how we can work with each other (and other co-op groups) to construct healthier lives.

As I sit to begin our new series “The CO-OP”, the lyrics “cooperation make it happen, cooperation working together” from Sesame Street continues to play in my mind. It seems as if we were raised with this idea of “cooperating” and “working together” but somehow we lose that training little by little throughout the years. Why is it that we become more selfish as we mature, and what can we do about it?
