How do you become number one in your industry? Here are 4 rules to take you to number 1:

Four Rules To Becoming #1:

1) Be Original. Who wants a carbon copy? In order to be “better”, you need to be unique. Know the element that is different about you and highlight that.

2) Know Your Stuff. Know your industry. Know how your industry relates to other industries. Know the key players, the up and comers, your competitors, and the veterans. Maybe you don’t have to cram in a study session. But, keep a healthy interest in learning your industry.

3) Create an Experience.  You have to create something that offers an experience. I like to think of it as creating a ride in an amusement park. You make requirements for who you want to ride the ride, but generally the key is that there is a line everytime the gate is open and people leave the ride having fun. That’s the idea you should have with whatever you are creating. Even if you are in a more professional setting, you need to create a experience that can be accessible and interesting to that audience.

4) Provide Hope. You must be an inspiration. Everyone great shares the story of where they came from. Oprah was molested. Steve Jobs was adopted. Michael Jordan didn’t make his first basketball team. Why are they telling you this? To explain that there is hope. Everyone has something that they have to overcome, so be sure to share that to inspire the next girl.
