How To Put A Big Dream Into Bite-Sized Pieces

Posted in: Dream Building, Life, Life Architect

Welcome to the third edition of our Dream Plan Series! This series helps you create a plan to make your dream a reality. This week’s edition helps you put your large dream into bite-sized, more manageable pieces. If you haven’t read through the last two lessons, check out Dream Plan Part 1 & Finding The Right Mentors. Learn how to put your dream in bite sized pieces after the jump…

Lay Out All You Want To Accomplish

Before you can figure out how to put things into bite sized pieces, its important that you lay out all you want to accomplish. What is your dream? Don’t be shy. Write out the biggest and best thing you can imagine.

Define An Order of Operation

In order for you to accomplish your dream… what would be the most logical order of operation? For example, if you dreamed of being a clothing designer you may need to go to school, secure funds for materials, build a client base, establish relationships with stylists, and purchase boutique space. What’s yours?

Circle  What You Can Do And Delegate The Rest

From your list, circle the things that you can do, or the steps you are able to do to complete a task. To continue with the dream of being a designer example, one of the things you may be able to do is to apply to school and apply for financial aide.  It’s possible that you’re unable to secure funds for your materials, but it is possible for you to find a mentor who can help you. Write all that you can do and see how you can delegate or find advisement for the rest.

Get To Work!

Start working on everything piece by piece so that you can begin to accomplish your dream. It will not be as overwhelming if you take it one step at a time.
