We never knew how much we LOVED 60s interior design and decor until this post! The 60s perfected stylish mismatched textures and prints, color, and geometric shapes. Everything had such an ‘unbalanced symmetry’, meaning there would be picture frames on both walls but they would be different sizes. Likewise, you would see two pillows on the couch but with completely different patterns. The 60s showed such constrained expression. We found some beautiful rooms for you to look through and become as in love with the 60s as we are!
From scallop hemmed curtains to the shape of the chairs…geometric shapes were IN.
Colors ruled the design.
Day beds came into style. You can notice from the decor that this generation had a longing to see things outside of their surroundings…something a bit more exotic.
Shapes galore.
This is a beautiful 60s design that you see in a more contemporary form in many houses today. The bold accent wall, bookshelf, and patterned curtains are now a design staple.
Is it weird that we want to live here? Imagine waking up to all this color…its impossible to wake up on the wrong side of the bed!
Judging from the text on this image, you can see there was a need for expression. Little did they know…the 70s were coming!
Beautiful and colorful.
Do you have love for the 60s now that you’ve seen the spaces?
