Cabaret star, Actress, and Singer Eartha Kitt is probably best known for her role as superheroine Catwoman in the Batman TV series. The exotic beauty later became to voice of Yzma in the Emperor’s New Groove. Her distinctive voice led her to create hit songs such as “C’est si bon” and “Santa Baby”. But her life wasn’t always as smoothe and alluring as her voice.
Eartha Kitt was conceived by rape, and was unaware of her biological mother until she was 8 years old. She was alleged to have had an affair with Orson Welles who named her one the ‘Most Fascinating Women in the World’, which she repeatedly denied. Kitt was ostrasized in the US when she voiced her anti-war sentiments to Lady bird Johnson.
But her set-backs never stopped her. She won a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, Emmies and Tony Awards. Unfortunately Kitt passed away form colon cancer in 2008, but she will be forever remembered as an icon.
